Are you Twitterrific?

In the sporadic world of Social Media networking, it’s not surprising that most people create tons of accounts in different Social Media platforms. Facebook, LinkedIn, and Myspace have been the most widely-used platforms for quite some time now. While Social Media platforms are considered to compete with each other, industry pundits have been stressing that each platform covers a niche. For instance, Facebook is a more casual approach to engage in Social Media networking. On the other hand, LinkedIn is more inclined in doing business, which is a no-brainer if you’re a start-up or a multinational. While Facebook and LinkedIn both have the visual leverage to entice potential customers, The micro-blogging phenom called Twitter is an invaluable tool for you to promote just about anything!

Twitter is more than a Social Media platform. It brings a lot to the table, and creates a myriad of opportunities for a brand. Twitter sensation and punk rock artist Amanda Palmer has realized this a year ago. On a lazy Friday night, Palmer went online and tweeted that she’s a “loser” infront of his computer. The result was viral: her tweet started a faux group known as The Losers of Friday Night on their Computers! It became the top trend on Twitter that time! People have been discussing random things like no tax on vodka and free pizza for every loser infront of his computer. It was a hilarious piece of “loser anarchy” on Twitter. One “loser” tweeted that they should come up with an awesome shirt. Palmer’s friend made a shirt design then placed it on a website. Shirts were sold at $25 each. Before she knew it, Palmer made $11,000 in less than an hour!

It’s a very rewarding experience if you accomplished something on Twitter. Keep in mind that when you land a deal or won something, people are watching and you get feedback in a snap. The same can be said about doing business online. Social Media platforms will augment your brand if you know how to use it. What good is a great brand if nobody knows it exists?
